Poultry Science Scholarships


** DOCUMENTED FINANCIAL NEED REQUIRED

** Adams County Poultry Association Scholarships
Consideration given to all full-time undergraduates in the College of Agricultural Sciences with first and second preference given to Poultry Science majors and then all other majors in the college whose home address of record is Adams County. Third and fourth preference given to Poultry Science majors then all other majors whose home address of record is Pennsylvania. Applicants must have documented financial need. Supported annually by Adams County Poultry Association.

 

The James L. Adams Annual Scholarship in Poultry
Consideration shall be given to full-time undergraduate students majoring in Animal Sciences with an emphasis in poultry science. First preference should go to those students who are in the Science option of the Animal Sciences major or are working on a curriculum with a high percentage of course work in the basic sciences and intend to pursue a career in the field of poultry science.

 

Glenn O. Bressler Memorial Award
Consideration for this award shall be given to all undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll in the College of Agricultural Sciences at The Pennsylvania State University who have demonstrated interest in poultry science.

 

Clauer Family Annual Award in Poultry Science
Consideration for this award shall be given to all undergraduate students enrolled in College of Agricultural Sciences at The Pennsylvania State University who have been active in a state or national 4-H poultry program.

 

Jay Irwin/Lancaster County Poultry Association Scholarship
Consideration shall be given to all full-time undergraduate or graduate students who are enrolled in Animal Sciences and have achieved superior academic records or show promise of academic success. Preference shall be given to students in the following order: first, students from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, majoring or minoring in Poultry Technology and Management; second, students from Pennsylvania majoring or minoring in Poultry Technology and Management; third, nonresident students majoring in Poultry Technology and Management; and fourth, graduate students in Poultry Science. Supported annually by the Lancaster County Poultry Association in honor of Jay Irwin.

 

Dr. David C. Kradel Memorial Award
Consideration for this award shall be given to all undergraduate students enrolled in the College of Agricultural Sciences at The Pennsylvania State University who have demonstrated leadership and service through their involvement and interest in poultry science.

 

Frederick H. "Fritz" Leuschner Memorial Student Fund in Agricultural Sciences
Consideration shall be given to all full-time undergraduate and graduate students enrolled or planning to enroll in the College of Agricultural Sciences who have expressed interest in poultry science and have demonstrated exemplary academic achievement. Endowed by family and children of Frederick H. "Fritz" Leuschner.

 

PennAg--Poultry Council Scholarship
Consideration shall be given to all full-time undergraduate and graduate students who are U.S. citizens, currently enrolled or planning to enroll in the Department of Poultry Science, have achieved superior academic records or show promise of academic success, and have shown an interest in pursuing a career in the poultry industry. Supported annually by the Pennsylvania Poultry Federation.

 

Pennsylvania Poultry Industry Alliance Scholarship
Consideration shall be given to all full-time students enrolled in an undergraduate program in the Department of Poultry Science who are active members of the Penn State Poultry Science Club and have achieved superior academic records. Preference shall be given to those students who are interested in pursuing a career in the field of poultry science and who have completed a college internship in an agriculture-related field. Supported annually by the Pennsylvania Poultry Industry Alliance.

 

William and Edward Powers Poultry Science Grant Fund
Primary consideration will be given to students enrolled in the Poultry Technology Management curriculum with funds supporting student attendance at professional meetings, exhibits, or industry-sponsored activities. Endowed by the family of William and Edward Powers.

 

** Richard H. Ross Family Trustee Scholarship in the College of Agricultural Sciences
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll in the College of Agricultural Sciences who have a demonstrated financial need. First preference shall be given to students enrolled in the Animal Sciences major within the College of Agricultural Sciences who have a demonstrated financial need.

 

Eugene and Carol Schurman 4-H Scholarship in The College of Agricultural Sciences
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all Pennsylvania resident undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll in the College of Agricultural Sciences who have achieved superior academic records or manifest promise of outstanding academic success and have been active in Pennsylvania 4-H program in high school. First preference shall be given to students who are majoring or planning to major in Animal Sciences. In the event no students are identified, that meet the eligibility criteria in Animal Sciences, consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all students in the College of Agricultural Sciences who have achieved superior academic records or manifest promise of outstanding success and who have been active in the Pennsylvania 4-H program in high school.

 

John H. Schwartz Memorial Scholarship
Consideration shall be given to undergraduate full-time students enrolled or planning to enroll in the College of Agricultural Sciences who have achieved superior academic records or manifest promise of outstanding academic success. Preference shall be given to students who are majoring in Animal Sciences with an emphasis on poultry science.

 

Herbert S. Siegel Graduate Student Fund
Primary consideration will be given to provide supplemental program support for graduate students doing fundamental or applied research using poultry or poultry products as subjects of the research who are working in association with faculty of the College of Agricultural Sciences. Endowed by the Dr. Herbert S. Siegel.

 

** Raymond E. and Frances B. Sperry Scholarship
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to outstanding undergraduate students enrolled in the College of Agricultural Sciences majoring in Poultry Technology and Management who have achieved superior academic records, manifest promise of future success, and have documented financial need. Endowed by Raymond E. and Frances B. Sperry.

 

Merrill P. and Adeline B. Tait Memorial Scholarship
Consideration shall be given to all full-time undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll in Animal Sciences. Special consideration shall be given to students who practice or are interested in animal showmanship. Endowed by Donald B. (’48) and Mary E. (’47) Tait in memory of Mrs. Tait’s parents, graduates of the college.

 

** Wenger's Feed Mill Incorporated Annual Scholarship in Agricultural Sciences
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all full-time undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll in the College of Agricultural Sciences who have achieved superior records or manifest promise of outstanding academic success and have demonstrated financial need. Preference shall be given to students who are studying in the area of poultry science.
