Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology Minor

The Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology minor provides an opportunity for students to become familiar with economic and sociological considerations in agricultural and rural areas. Students can design a plan of study to complement their major. An Animal Sciences student who is returning to the farm or an Agronomy major going into Agricultural Extension, for example, could design a program in farm management and rural leadership. Agricultural Systems Management or Horticulture students might increase their employment opportunities by completing a program in business management. Other students could emphasize resource economics or community and rural development.

There are no prescribed courses in the Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology minor because the possible areas of interest cover a broad spectrum.

Requirements
Students are required to complete a minimum of 18 credits of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology courses chosen with the consent of their minor program adviser. At least 6 of these credits must be at the 400 level.

Procedures for Enrollment
Students may apply for admission to the Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology minor by submitting an Application for Admission to a Minor form in room 107 Armsby Building.
